What is Cultural Arts Week?
Every year, the CA committee chooses a country for MDE to "visit." We like to focus on one country, so we can immerse the students in that country's culture and people a litte more than if we focused on a variety of countries. The hope is that by the end of the week, the kids are a little more educated and excited about that particular country -- and realize that the world is big and there's so much to see and appreciate about it! To pull this off, the CA Committee decorates the school. In addition to the decor, there are professional performances, theme days, a Room 406 tour, and student fashion show.
Room 406 Tour
Each class gets to experience Mexico up-close during the Room 406 tour. Kids are divided into small groups and "travel" from station to station, learning about a certain aspect of Mexico. Parent Volunteers are needed to present a station during your child's class visit. This is a fun way to hang out with your child and his/her class. Once you have signed up, you will be contacted and given a script for your station.
Fashion Show
The Fashion Show is always a big hit with the kids. Models are needed -- so if your kiddo is interested, sign him or her up when it is posted!
